How Much Does It Cost To Become A Pilot?
Flying is extremely fun and rewarding. Whether you are pursuing initial or ongoing flight training as a career or for recreation, there are some expenses involved. At Safety in Motion Flight Center, we are keenly aware of this and do all that we can to help you achieve your goals with the minimum expense possible. Here are some steps to help you “take off” with the best financial footing.
The investment into your flight training is directly affected by your study commitment and the number of lessons you take per week. If you are currently “shopping flight schools” be sure that you are comparing what is being offered between schools to ensure it is the same. Most schools only quote the cost of the minimum flight time required by the FAA, which is unrealistic. Some will include the cost of everything, such as supplies, exams, etc., and many will leave that information out. Costs are dependent on your current level of experience, the number of lessons you plan to take per week, and other factors.

We’ve designed a unique Cost Calculator that allows you to enter the type of Flight Courses, instructor rates, days of training, supplies, etc., to Calculate your Costs. Give it a try HERE!
Get the Funding You Need!
Depending on what course you are in (e.g. minimum 35 hours of flight time for Private Pilot and 120 hours for commercial) there are several financing options available to you. Some options will limit the frequency of how funds are disbursed, but provide greater funding support, such as training through a college program. Members of the military both active and veteran may have access to the GI Bill, which can provide significant funding support. Learn more about Financing Options HERE.
