Announcing a New CFI Ground School Class
Greetings Everyone!
So you have all likely heard about the fanatical hiring by the airlines and I'm here to let you know that it's true! As flight instructors reach the minimums for ATP or R-ATP, they're heading out the door to pursue their goal of being an airline pilot. Of course, that opens opportunities for more pilots to come in and start working as flight instructors either as a profession or for building time to move on to other professional flying endeavors.
Because of the increased interest in CFI ground school and training at Safety in Motion, we have decided to hold a CFI Ground School that I will teach. The plan is to hold it at KPLU on Monday & Tuesday Mornings from 8am - 10am, then assign homework to keep students busy throughout the week. This schedule allows the later morning and afternoon time for flight training. Additional CFI training can be scheduled and provided out of KOLM on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The class will run for 10-weeks, thus providing 40-hrs (Part 141 minimum hour requirement) and will cost the same amount as the other ground schools at $395/per person. Textbooks will be FAA references that can be downloaded for free. Although I'm not requiring course prerequisites, it is preferred that students possess at least a Private Pilot Certificate to help ensure the ability to grasp the material. If you're working on your Commercial certificate, you should join and get a head-start on your CFI training while cementing your commercial knowledge! The "technical subject areas" are basically the same. This is also a perfect class for those looking to re-instate an expired CFI certificate, or thinking about becoming one!
If you are interested, we're planning to start classes the week of April 18th, so please contact the front desk at KPLU (253-840-5758 Option 1) to sign up and pay tuition. This will be a very interactive class, designed to help you MASTER the aeronautical knowledge subjects of Private and Commercial technical subject areas - and question everything you've ever learned! I hope to see you there!
Stay well and fly safe!
